Hairstylist, Ian North
Ian North began working in hair in 1995 at the age of forty three. Having started so late in life he knew he would have to take extraordinary steps in order to become a top stylist overnight. Right from the start Ian took advanced training at the Sassoon Academy in Toronto as well as at Toni & Guy and at New York City's Jaques Dessange, where famed stylist Fredric Fekkai trained. For twelve years he owned his own salon – Salon Ian North, in Sarasota. It was early in his career that a client tore a round brush from his hands declaring, “you’re terrible with a brush but you give a great cut – even better is when I wake up in the morning and just shake my head.”
And so ever since that time, Ian has never again touched a brush and has with each passing year improved the Wake & Shake cut.
More recently Ian has been using new hair color technology to give his the best hair color ever; read about it at my blog!
Ian North was born March 24, 1952 in New York City. Ian, a self taught artist, grew up on Long Island where he created his first serious art piece in 1970. He then spent the next twenty years in the music business recording five albums as a singer/song writer, most famous for the "Milk 'N' Cookies" album. While living in London in 1977 and 1978, he became serious about the creation of fine art and took inspiration from such artists as Robert Rauschenberg, Joseph Cornell, Antoni Tapies and Basquiat.
